What a bento cake is

A bento cake is a compact, single-portion cake — usually around 250–350g, sized for
two to four people. The name comes from the idea of a small, self-contained treat: a
complete little cake rather than a slice or a full-sized celebration cake.

When it is the right choice

Office birthdays. Easy to carry, easy to share between a few
colleagues, and nothing left over.

Small surprises. A birthday for one person at home does not need a 2kg
cake.

Anniversaries. Big enough to feel like an occasion, small enough to
finish.

Last-minute. Because they are small, they are quicker to produce than
a large custom design.

What you can customise

Flavour, colour, a name, a short message, and simple design work. Bento cakes take less
design surface than a large cake, so a clean single idea works better than an intricate
one.
